The Book, The Whole Book, and Nothing But
The Book, The Whole Book, and Nothing But
Making books, the Incline Press way
This book contains two essays written by Graham Moss about making books by hand at Incline Press, the first is about binding and was written in response to the Lifetime Achievement Award given to Graham by the Society of Bookbinders in York during August 2024. The second essay is about Mr Taberer's Arab printing press that first came to us in 1999 and was recently returned after a sojourn in the south. They are illustrated throughout from reproduction blocks of Jost Amman's woodcuts from his Book of Trades in the 1560's, mostly book crafts which are still practiced in our workshop.
The book is a small octavo size, printed with hand set metal type: 12pt Scotch Roman and occasional Caslon, on tinted Zerkall Butten paper. Hardbacked, with a buckram spine, the boards are covered in various yellow marbled papers by Claire Hooson of Marsh Marbling.
