On the Naming of Cats by David Blamires with wood engravings by Chris Daunt

David Blamires' charming monograph is concerned with the naming of cats in poetry and in prose, from the 9th-century Pangur Ban to Patricia Highsmiths' Ming, from the Tybert of Caxton's History of Renart the Fox to Paul Gallico's Jenny, whence we take the title of our book. Not to forget, of course, Puss in Boots!

Seven wood engravings inspired by the text have been cut by Chris Daunt. Each engraving shows a different named breed of cat. Uniform with our series of cat poems, the 48-page book is 11 by 8 inches, printed on archival quality Zerkall paper using 12 pt Bell type with Bold Madonna for display. The edition is of 240 copies.

The standard edition of 200 copies is case-bound in an original 1946 Curwen patterned paper designed by Elizabeth Friedlander over boards and a cloth spine. The deluxe edition, now out of print, includes an additional portfolio of the wood engravings. They are numbered with roman numerals from I to XL and bound in a Kiran Ravilious patterned paper.

Also available as loose sheets for binding, from £57 (plus postage outside of the UK). Please email us for an invoice.
